The BarcaBreakdown discuss the snoozefest 0-1 victory against Eibar, as Griezmann scores perhaps his last goal for Barca in what could be Koeman's last game. The second half looked better as Riqui Puig and Jordi Alba came on, changing Barcelona to a 4-3-3.
A lot of questions remain over this team, as Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay look to be on their way to Barca! We discuss the most important needs to get a striker (to start while Aguero is on the bench), a new central defensive midfielder, and a center back to help partner with Araujo for next season. In Laporta we trust! He has led Barca to a golden age before and we hope to see similar success now. Koeman's job is definitely in the air, though because of a lack of top tier coaches we believe he may have 1 more season to choose his transfers and prove his worth as a coach.

The BarcaBreakdown Weekly #3 discusses Laporta's New Cycle, as he claimed FC Barcelona will clear out players such as Coutinho, Umtiti, Matheus, Firpo, and more will leave as Barca seem primed to bring on Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay. We also discuss how Barca will look to get Halaand in the off season of 2023, as Marc Andre Ter Stegen goes through surgery and questions begin to come about whether Xavi will replace Koeman next season.
The biggest news may be that Sergi Roberto, Pique, Busquets, and Griezmann are now on the list of players who will need to take a pay cut or leave next season. Though they are club legend, we believe Koeman is in the right to look forward to Barca entering a new era with new players to capitalize on Leo Messi's final years as a Barca player.

The BarcaBreakdown cover the 1-2 loss to Celta Vigo, as Leo Messi again scored but the defense led by Pique and Lengelet conceded 2 goals. Koeman's job is surely in danger, and Barca's Liga hopes are done as Luis Suarez scored a last minute winner to put Atletico 2 points up on Real Madrid with one game remaining.
Busquets had a brilliant assist to Messi for the first goal header, but Santi Mina came back and scored two goals. Again, Marc Andre Ter Stegen looked like a statue on the first goal and continues to look lackluster. Moriba for Frenkie De Jong was the big change in today's lineup, which proved inneffective as Moriba was unable to connect with the team well. Riqui Puig made a second half appearance which provided energy, but not enough to cover the defensive woes of this team. We look forward to seeing the changes Laporta makes this offseason, which may include replacing Lengelet, Pique, Alba, and many more players.

The BarcaBreakdown discuss Riqui Puig, the man who so many love and want to see more play, while others debate whether he deserves so much adulation. FC Barcelona certainly need to improve and with Pedri tired, we wonder why Koeman decided to ignore Puig for much of the season. Riqui certainly offers a play style which Barca lack, that in the mold of an offensive, forward looking midfielder along the lines of Xavi and Iniesta. With a stagnant midfield that sees little forward passes from Pedri and Frenkie De Jong when things go wrong, we discuss whether having Puig play more throughout the season would have left us with a better "go to" sub than Ilaix Moriba at the end of the season.
With recent news about Laporta being upset that Koeman ignored Puig for much of the season, Puig's place under Koeman (or another manager) next season is a huge point of discussion.

The BarcaBreakdown discuss another key loss for Koeman's Barca against Levante, as the La Liga title is almost certainly out of our reach. With Messi, Pedri and Dembele scoring, the defense again failed our team as Sergi Roberto was played as Center Back in a 3-5-2, a truly puzzling decision by Koeman. Pique, Lengelet, and the defense in general seemed to relive previous collapses as we could not keep Levante from scoring.
Overall, after a great early 2021 and a bad close to the season, the big question will be whether or not Laporta will keep Koeman as coach next season. Regardless, it also seems clear we need to shore up our defense with Erica Garcia, Emerson, and some competition for Marc Andre Ter Stegen in net.

The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid, as Messi and Co. failed to take the big victory that could have secured the La Liga Title. Unfortunately, Busquets was hurt, Pedri and De Jong were quiet in attack, and Dembele was substituted too late. Koeman again failed a big game as Barca continued to drop points as the Liga title slipped further out of our hands.
As a big battle between Someone and Koeman ensued, neither team took full control as Atletico performed better in the first half while Barca stormed back in the second half. We now have to have BOTH Real Madrid drop points against Sevilla (or the rest of the three games), and hope that Atletico drop points as well.

The Barca Breakdown discuss the HUGE game for the La Liga title, as we hope FC Barcelona and Leo Messi can stop Luis Suarez' return to the Camp Nou and defeat Diego Simeone's team after an early season loss. We predict whether we will see Sergi Roberto, Mingueza, Dest, or Dembele in the starting line up, as well as recap the first game from November. The team has dramatically transformed, though our recent form has left much to be desired. Though we do not control our own fate, with Real Madrid playing Sevilla the following day, this could be our last big game to prove that Koeman deserves to keep his job and make a final push for the title! We hope the team can avoid silly defensive mistakes and that Ter Stegen can rival the best goalkeeper in La Liga this season, Jan Oblak.

The Barca Breakdown is back to discuss the large channel TalkFCB quitting twitter due to unfair criticism and Neymar rumors increasing as PSG lost to Manchester City in the Champions League Semifinal. We also discuss Ansu Fati's surgery to have his meniscus removed and the drama surrounding Messi's team lunch ahead of the Atletico Madrid game on Saturday. We discuss the need for Barca supporters to stay positive and respect people who put in the work to make content, though Messi is not above criticism, especially on penalties. We think Neymar rumors will run wild this summer, but the team should stay focused on young stars such as Mbappe, Lautaro, or Halaand to look to the future. Unfortunately, Ansu Fati needs another surgery, though we are glad he should be healthy by the start of next season! The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 3-2 victory against La Liga, with two wonderful Lionel Messi goals helping to keep the title hope alive. Real Madrid play Sevilla next week as we challenge Atletico while we hope Frenkie De Jong can keep up his stellar play. Busquets again looked lively helping take the Messi missed penalty into a goal opportunity that helped tie the game. Once again, as in Granada, our poor defense and awful cross defending put us at risk of losing points. We also question whether or not Ter Stegen is slipping lately and why he is struggling. Overall, we were happy to see Messi lead the team back, with Griezmann again scoring an important goal for Barca. We analyze the good and bad, so that we can be prepared for what to expect when Luis Suarez and Simeone's Atletico come to face FC Barcelona next week at the Camp Nou. The BarcaBreakdown discusses all the news regarding Sergi Roberto's contract renewal, Eric Garcia's free transfer and wages, Emerson coming from Real Betis, and the negotiations for Ousmane Dembele's contract renewal. Thankfully, it appears that Laporta has placed a new rule that players over 30 only can sign an extension year by year, with no multi-year extensions allowed. On top of this, he has shown an unwillingness to continue to pay the absurd wages that were typical of the Bartomeau presidency.
Though Sergi Roberto is a very nice player and has had some high profile moments for FC Barcelona that we will never forget, it seems his time at the club is fading. With his wage bill, it no longer seems worthwhile for Barca to continue to pay him. We are hopeful to see Erica Garcia come to Barca, and news that he is coming even with reduced wages show his desire to play for us. Ousmane has had a blossoming play this year and seems to connect well with Leo Messi. We hope to see them together for a long time.
