The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 3-3 tie vs. Celta Vigo in La Liga. Injuries to Ansu Fati, Nico, and Eric Garcia sour an incredible first half with goals by Fati, Busquets, and Depay. The second half featured 2 goals from Iago Aspas and one from Nolito, which highlighted an awful breakdown from Barcelona. Barjuan's last game in charge before Xavi was wonderful to start. Ansu Fati scored an amazing initial goal and continued his #FATIMANIA. However, Fati pulled up with a hamstring injury as the first half ended. Sergio Busquets had an outside of the box goals, a surprising shot that snuck past the keeper. Depay connected with a Jordi Alba cross and headed in the 3rd goal of the first half. Unfortunately, Garcia was subbed off due to injury at half time and Nico had an issue shortly thereafter. Subbing on Balde and Arajuo, and not Coutinho, only left us with one offensive player for most of the second half. Riqui Puig came on but is still looking to find a rhythm and form after so long without regular playtime. We now look to Xavi, who will be officially announced as FC Barcelona coach starting on Monday. We hope the fans are patient and allow him time to rebuild the team, physically and mentally. The BarcaBreakdown cover FC Barcelona's victory against Dynamo Kyiv, during which Ansu Fati scored a wonderful goal for the HUGE victory in the Champions League. The game also showed Ousmane Dembele finally back from injury with a promising performance showcasing his speed and dribbling, while Frenkie De Jong and Ronald Araujo also came back. The second game under Barjuan was not perfect, as we continue to see areas of improvement in defense, midfield, and offense that we hope Xavi will come to improve. Overall, Marc Andre Ter Stegen made a few critical saves while Eric Garcia and Clement Lengelet did just enough to help keep the clean sheet. We were also very happy to see Dembele, Ansu Fati, and Memphis Depay line up as our front three in the second half. This trio will need to be deadly to ensure that Barca move on in the Champions League with group leaders Bayern Munich. Preparing for the GINORMOUS match vs. Benfica in three weeks, the continued growth of Gavi and Nico will do wonders once Pedri is back in the midfield. The Barca Breakdown discussed the game against Alaves at the Camp Nou which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Sergi Barjuan starts the game with a typical Koeman lineup due to a large injury roster, yet we saw youngsters Nico and Gavi start in the mid field alongside Busquets. We saw Aguero start as strikers, but unfortunately subbed off due to an elevated heart rate. The first 25 minutes were wonderfully interconnected between players creating some great opportunities. However, Barca could not squeeze out a goal in the first half.
Rolling into the second half, play seemed to slow down and many opportunities were snubbed by the Alavez defense or players slowing play by passing back. With a wonderful attempt, Depay's rocket finds the back of the net. Barca led 1-0 until a mishap in the defense allowed Alavez to equalize only minutes later. Barca's play for the rest of the game reverted to tired and lazy attempts failing to take the lead. Furthermore, With the injured roster Barca subbed on Coutinho and Balde.
The La Liga Table is not a pretty sight with Barca in the number 9 spot with 16 points well behind Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla at 24 points. We then spoke about the persistent problems of the players not being able to finish and just low quality performance. We hope that Barjuan with a few more games can slowly improve the performances and strategies on the pitch. With the imminent arrival of Xavi, will we see an improvement over Koeman's reign? The Barca Breakdown discussed another loss in the 2021/2022 season which resulted in the sacking of Ronald Koeman as manager. This comes after a loss away against Rayo Vallecano in which a fatal mistake by Busquests led to their demise. The team looked disheveled, disorientated, and disorganized. The only positive outlook was that Nico looked wonderful. In the end, Koeman, again, blames the players and takes no accountability or recognition that he needed to improve. It was clear with the loss of Messi, many problems came to light and Koeman was not able to adjust. Soon after the result, FC Barcelona released an official statement saying Koeman had been relieved of his duties. The Culers rejoiced! Finally Laporta made the financial decision to sack Koeman despite a 12 Million Euro payout. There is definitely more money to be lost if Barca do not continue through the Champions League and stay in a higher spot in La liga. In even more important news, Xavi is again linked to replace Koeman. Nothing is official as of yet, but the only reports for a replacement are circulating around Xavi. This poses a few questions: Why was Koeman not fired earlier? Will Xavi have the authority to bench senior players (Busquets, Roberto, Pique) when they are not performing well? Aren't we just putting Xavi into the same coaching situation, a club legend, in the same position as Koeman. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! The Barca Breakdown discussed the aftermath of El Clasico and the horrendous hostility shown by some fans to Koeman and his car, along with injuries update to Fati, Frenkie De Jong, Pedri, and Pique.
As Ronald Koeman was leaving the Camp Nou in his car, Barca fans surrounded his car yelling "Get Out" and creating a scene. Fortunately the situation did not escalate and Koeman and his wife were able to make it out of the crowd. We also question the state of Barcelona by comparing the views of TalkFCB and the Barcelona Podcast and how Yusef and Adam perceive the situation. It is to be said that Barca are in a rebuilding state after the financial ruin after Bartomeu, Messi's departure, many injuries, and a young inexperienced squad. But there has been something lost... Players under Barca are not improving and the Barca style seems to be lost.
Lastly we discuss the injuries of Fati, Frenkie De Jong, Pique, Alba, and Pedri. There is something to say about the failure of the Barca physio team to keep our players healthy and able to play throughout the season. Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel!

The BarcaBreakdown discussed disarray under Koeman ball. For the 3rd straight Clasico, Koeman has failed and set us up for failure. Time and time again Barca on the pitch are lackluster, providing no forward movement and little to no shots on goal. The defense continually leaves players unmarked with plenty of threatening space. This resulted in two goals from Alaba and Vazquez. Individually Barcelona players looked slow, discouraged, and without drive to defeat their longtime rivals. Performances from Frenkie De Jong, Depay, Fati, Garcia, and Mingueza were all well below the potential they possessed.
What will make the difference on this team? A complete overall is needed tactically to drive Barca to success. Koeman is certainly not the manager to take to any trophy. Koeman is not the only person to blame for this. The players do not take the opportunities to score, they are off target, and they fail the forward movements to overcome the defenses of their opponents. The only goal resulted from a cross from Dest into Aguero who softly sent the ball into the back of the net. Unfortunately, this only resulted in the final minute of the game and didn't leave barca with a chance to equalize.
Barca's future falls further as we are left in 8th of the La Liga table with 15 points and a game in hand. This all leading into the game on Wednesday against Rayo Vallecano.

The Barca Breakdown discussed Barca's 3-1 victory at the Camp Nou against Valencia. The biggest highlights of this game was Koeman's idea to play Sergino Dest on the right wing, Dest's performance in that position, and Ansu Fati scoring an outrageous goal and drawing a penalty. Memphis Depay converted the penalty while Coutinho was able to score the final goal and seal the victory at the Camp Nou. The early goal by Gaya for Valencia was a big shock, though we were happy to see the team fight back to take the victory. Gavi, Frenkie De Jong, and Busquets all had flashes of good play in the midfield, though it did look like Valencia could cut through our midfield with a few passes. The defense continues to look fairly bad, however we are encouraged that we did not allow a goal after the 4th minutes. Much of this success was because Marc Andre Ter Stegen had a great game in goal. It is good to see Coutinho get back on the score sheet. It was also nice to see Sergio Aguero make his first appearance for FC Barcelona. We are hoping Dembele comes back soon and is ready to add more width for our team. The BarcaBreakdown discuss the news of Pedri's contract renewal, and over 1 billion euro trade clause, as the international break comes to an end. As a Ballon D'oR 30 man shortlist member and Golden Boy of the Euros, Pedri is an integral part of the FC Barcelona rebuild in the post-Messi era. We are extremely excited Laporta and the board were able to renew Pedri for 5 years. Next on the list are the renewals of Ansu Fati and Dembele. Both players have contracts ending in June 2022 and it is imperative we re-sign them now or we will be forced to offload them in the winter as they cannot leave for free next summer. Dembele is also supposed to be back for the team in the next 1-2 games, which is a great sign for Koeman. Our team so far this year has lacked width and speed, two aspects which Dembele will certainly help us with. We hope to see Fati, Dembele, and Depay all connect soon as goal scoring has been tough for Barca so far this season, especially being shut out at Bayern and Benfica. We also discuss Gavi! The new young superstar who really impressed during the Nations League tournament while playing for Spain. Luis Enrique had high praises for Gavi, in a very similar manner to those we heard about Pedri in the summer. With Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie De Jong, Barca have a strong core of young midfielders that should help us grow in the coming seasons. We certainly need Koeman, or whoever our new manager is, to be able to continue to help these young midfielders grow so Barca can compete for La Liga, the Copa, and Champions League in the next decade. The BarcaBreakdown discuss the 30 man short list for the Ballon D'oR, as Lionel Messi looks clear to pick up his 7th golden ball this winter. Unfortunately, only 1 FC Barcelona player appeared on the list, which was the Golden Boy of the Euros, Pedri! We discuss the likely top 3 for the award, along with the lack of FC Barcelona players and those who we believe should be on the list like Frenkie De Jong and Memphis Depay. The BarcaBreakdown discuss what is stopping Lionel Messi from winning the 2021 Ballon D'Or. Answer: NOTHING! After being the top scorer, assister, best player, and CHAMPION of the 2021 Copa America, Lionel Messi looks clear to take home his 7th Ballon D'or to the Camp Nou and FC Barcelona/Argentina fans. As ESPNFC covered earlier this summer, nothing will stop Messi due to his outrageous 2021 and finally breaking the curse and winning an international title for Argentina. We discuss the possible reasons Messi may not win. For one, Robert Lewandowski should rightfully have on the 2020 award. We worry he may get some votes as compensation for the fact that France Football not awarding the Ballon d'Or in 2020. We also think voter fatigue might set in, so that some may not want to keep giving Messi the same award year after year. Jorginho also has a case, as he was the winner of the Champions League with Chelsea, and the Euros with Italy. N'golo Kante also won with Chelsea and was a favorite, but France's poor performance at the Euros leave his hopes in major doubt. Karim Benzema has also made a name for himself for the Ballon D'oR this year with his wonderful play for Real Madrid and France Overall, we think Messi should walk away easy with the award. Captain, Copa America Champion, Copa Del Rey Champion, and undoubtedly the best player of 2021 (and of all time). Please like, comment and subscribe to our channel! The BarcaBreakdown discuss Joan Laporta's comments ahead of Messi's France Football interview. Laporta had hoped Messi would somehow offer to play for free. This has seemed to blow up in the media as a crazy possibility that could never happen for several reasons. First off legal issues would not allow for a player to play for free in La Liga. Furthermore, Messi had already offered to take a 50% pay reduction to meet the needs of the team. Unfortunately, many senior players on the team have high wage contracts and long in duration. This all stems from Bartomeu's awful financial decisions which had led to a reduction from 300 million euros to a low budget of 97 million euros. While the financial situation was unfortunate for Laporta, he must have been aware of the intricacies of FC Barcelona's financial situation. Despite this, Laporta had promised to sign Messi in his presidential campaign and had elicited that the Messi negotiations were going well. Not until the final moment when Messi returned from his vacation did Laporta say it wasn't possible to sign him. Laporta's story does not seem to fit a real timeline. A politician's game is being played to shift the blame off of Laporta and onto Messi. This came in the form of Laporta saying he had hoped Messi would play for free. Unfortunately, FC Barcelona are in a tough situation. Although we need a leader and someone to spur confidence in our ability to bounce back. We do not have high hope that Barca will be able to prevail in La Liga and the Champions League with Laporta reiterating his confidence in Koeman being the right man for the job. In the most positive news, Dembele seems like he will make an appearance in the coming games in October (Valencia, Dynamo Kiev, and El Clasico-Real Madrid).
